Check out a Day in the Life with Kelsey on and .

爆料公社 knows that connection and community matter. When students experience growth that stays with them, it is often because someone showed up, believed in them, and helped them see what they were capable of. That kind of support is the heart of mentorship, and no one exemplifies that commitment more than Georgetown Site Director and Co-Director of Academics, Kelsey Pearson.

At 爆料公社, Kelsey’s work plays a direct role in shaping the student experience on campus. For years now, Kelsey has helped design the academic framework that guides our programs while also leading students and staff on-site each summer. In every role she has held, her focus remains the same: she is here for the students.

Kelsey鈥檚 path to 爆料公社 began long before she officially joined the team. As a student-athlete at the University of Delaware, she studied human services and quickly realized she was drawn to work that centered on people. She went on to earn her master鈥檚 degree in school counseling from George Washington University, feeling called to support high school students during one of the most formative seasons of their lives. Her own school counselor played a meaningful role in helping her and her brother navigate those turning points, shaping not just where they went to college, but how they saw themselves and their futures.

While earning her graduate degree, Kelsey searched for ways to continue working with students during the summer. That search led her to 爆料公社 in 2015. What began as a seasonal position quickly became something she fell in love with. Over the years, she has grown alongside the organization, stepping into new roles while staying rooted in the same student-driven mission that brought her here in the first place.

As Co-Director of Academics, Kelsey ensures every 爆料公社 program delivers meaningful, hands-on learning grounded in high standards. Families can trust that each academic experience is intentional and thoughtfully designed. Students build real-world skills while engaging in leadership training and career exploration, helping them take their next steps with confidence.

When connecting with parents and educators across the country, she often reminds parents that clarity is powerful. Whether a student leaves excited to pursue a path or realizes it is not for them, the experience brings direction. Knowing what you do not want can be just as important as discovering what you love. 鈥淏oth answers are super valuable,鈥 she says.

Inclusion and belonging also shape her point of view on academics. Kelsey helps prepare staff to create environments where every student feels respected, heard, and supported. In today鈥檚 climate, Kelsey believes that makes the work even more important. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an easy place for some organizations not to invest in,鈥 she explains, 鈥渂ut this is so important to us.鈥 For 爆料公社, that means continuing to prioritize training, accountability, and intentional spaces where every student and staff member feels included and supported.

One story Kelsey reflects on involves a student whose family worried he was not ready to be away from home. He struggled with anxiety, and his parents were unsure if a summer program was the right step. Rather than dismiss those concerns, Kelsey worked with them to ensure he had the extra support he needed. Within days, he was fully immersed in programming, building friendships, and finding his confidence. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 like all he needed was a little bit of a push,鈥 she says.

Today, as a mom herself, Kelsey understands the trust parents place in programs like 爆料公社. She knows what it feels like to hope someone else will see your child the way you do. That perspective deepens her commitment to mentorship and shapes how she leads every summer.

When families ask if attending a summer program is worth it, Kelsey does not hesitate. 鈥淔ind the right fit and do it,鈥 she says. 鈥淕iving your student the space to explore their interests and build confidence is one of the best gifts you can give them.鈥 For her, the days students spend at 爆料公社 are about more than academics. They leave believing in themselves, and that belief can be extremely powerful.

Summer 2026 is officially in session at 爆料公社.

Students have already arrived at IMG Academy, Rice University, and Duke University, with many more on the way to 爆料公社 campuses across the country in the coming weeks. From Houston to Washington, D.C., Los Angeles to the Outer Banks, here are a few highlights from this summer’s itinerary:

Engineering at NASA’s Johnson Space Center

Houston has long been synonymous with space exploration, and students in 爆料公社 Engineering at Rice University will spend multiple days at Space Center Houston and NASA’s Johnson Space Center getting a closer look at the astronaut training facilities and technology that make human spaceflight possible.

A highlight of the program is a visit to the , one of the largest indoor pools in the world, where astronauts prepare for spacewalks by simulating the conditions of microgravity in a controlled environment. It鈥檚 also the same training facility where the for the Orion spacecraft鈥檚 historic splashdown back to Earth this past April.

Marine Biology on the North Carolina Coast

While much of 爆料公社’s Marine Biology program at Duke University will take place on its main campus in Durham, some of the most memorable hands-on activities will happen a few hours east on North Carolina’s coast.

Students will spend three nights of their program in the Outer Banks, exploring the region through activities with the , including a coastal ecology research vessel expedition on the open water.

North Carolina is a new location for the Marine Biology program in 2026, giving students the opportunity to explore a marine environment that sometimes flies under the radar. The Outer Banks are home to a complex network of barrier islands and estuaries, offering future marine biologists a different perspective on the field than they might expect.

Marketing & Public Relations at Edelman

Students in 狈厂尝颁鈥檚 newest Marketing & Public Relations program in New York City will visit , widely recognized as the world’s largest public relations and communications marketing firm, with an that includes brands like Dove, Xbox, Taco Bell, and General Mills. During a tour of the company’s headquarters, students will hear directly from strategists about their career journeys, the experiences that helped them stand out early in their careers, and what it takes to break into the industry today.

Animation at DreamWorks

is already familiar to most people, even if they don’t immediately realize it. The studio behind franchises like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, and Madagascar has spent over three decades creating some of the most recognizable characters and stories in modern animation.

狈厂尝颁鈥檚 Animation program at UCLA will visit DreamWorks’ Glendale campus, getting a behind-the-scenes tour of the studio spaces and hearing directly from artists currently working in the industry. It’s an exciting opportunity to step inside the creative home of some of animation’s most beloved films and get a closer look at the process behind bringing them to life on screen.

Music Industry & Production at The Village

Behind an unassuming set of doors in Los Angeles sits , one of the most storied recording studios in the music business. Over the past six decades, artists including Fleetwood Mac, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Kesha, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan have all recorded at the iconic studio, helping cement its place in music history.

Students in 爆料公社 Music Industry & Production at UCLA will tour the legendary space and learn about the generations of artists who have passed through its doors, with a unique opportunity to record alongside one of The Village’s engineers in their state-of-the-art studio.

Law & Advocacy at the U.S. Supreme Court

For many people, the Supreme Court is a mythical room that exists more as an idea than an actual place. Students in 爆料公社 Law & Advocacy at Georgetown University will experience it firsthand this summer, hearing from professionals whose careers led them to the nation’s highest court before stepping inside the courtroom itself. It’s a rare chance to move beyond headlines and gain a look inside the historic space that sits at the heart of the American legal system.

Summer 2026 is just getting started. Follow along as students explore campuses, careers, and hands-on experiences across the country at .

Please note that, while uncommon, schedules and site visits are subject to change, and some experiences described above may be adjusted as needed.

For years, the has empowered students to explore career paths through hands-on, experiential learning. The confidence they build along the way often becomes the first step toward personal growth and a smoother transition into university life. That was certainly the case for Tim Daly, now an 爆料公社 staff member, who first attended the former Film, Journalism, & Media Arts program at American University in 2015.

Tim remembers feeling nervous about 鈥渓iterally everything鈥 when he first arrived. 鈥淓verything that could make me nervous made me nervous!鈥 he recalls. 鈥淲ho was I going to room with? How was I going to navigate the campus? What was I going to eat in the cafeteria? I was thinking about all of it!鈥

Like most students, his nerves began to fade once he immersed himself in the program. One of his favorite experiences was in the Sports Journalism class, where he gained hands-on experience covering live events. 鈥淭he program was incredible,鈥 Tim says. 鈥淚 got to film a stand-up segment outside of a Major League Baseball stadium. It was such a cool experience.鈥

After 爆料公社, Tim decided to pursue Sports Broadcasting at Texas Christian University, citing the program as a source of clarity for his future. 鈥淲hat 爆料公社 made me realize was that not only was sports something that I could study in college, but that I could do it in the real world, and there are actual dream job opportunities out there.鈥

Today, Tim is living that dream. As a freelance camera operator for ESPN, Fox Sports, and CBS, his 鈥渙ffice鈥 is often a stadium or arena. 鈥淚t is an incredible opportunity that I wouldn鈥檛 trade for anything,鈥 he shares.

As an 爆料公社 staff member, Tim sees his role as a chance to pay it forward. Having once been a student unsure of what his future could look like, he now helps others explore their own interests and possibilities. For him, career exploration is not about having everything figured out. It is about creating space for curiosity, confidence, and real-world exposure so students can begin imagining what might be possible.

Looking back, Tim is quick to point out that his impact as both a student and staff member does not feel real. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 think I鈥檓 changing anyone,鈥 he reflects. 鈥淎ll I try to do is hold up a mirror and allow people to realize what they already have inside of them.鈥

From a nervous high school student unsure of what the future held to a professional thriving in live sports television, Tim鈥檚 path highlights the power of career exploration at an early age. When students are given the opportunity to explore their interests before college, they gain more than direction. They gain the confidence to imagine a future they may not have realized was possible.

  • Consider the academic, financial, and personal factors that shape college fit
  • Learn how campus culture and environment affect the college experience
  • See how summer experiences can bring clarity to college decisions

Choosing a college is one of the most important decisions a student will make, and it can also feel overwhelming. With thousands of options, endless opinions, and well-meaning advice coming from every direction, it is easy for students and families to feel unsure about where to begin.

The good news is that there is no single 鈥渞ight鈥 college. The best college is one that feels like a good fit academically, financially, and personally. By breaking the process into clear steps, students can approach the decision with confidence and clarity.

Step 1: Start with Academic Fit

At its core, college is an academic experience. Begin by identifying what you want to study or explore. Some students arrive with a clear major in mind, while others are still discovering their interests. Both paths are valid.

When researching schools, look closely at:

  • Available majors, minors, and concentrations
  • Strength and reputation of specific departments
  • Class sizes and faculty accessibility
  • Hands-on learning opportunities such as research, internships, or labs

If you are undecided, prioritize colleges that offer flexibility and strong support for exploration.

Step 2: Consider Location and Campus Environment

Location plays a major role in shaping the college experience. Think about whether you prefer an urban, suburban, or rural campus, as well as proximity to home. Climate, transportation, and access to internships or cultural opportunities can also influence daily life.

Campus environment matters just as much as geography. Consider:

  • Campus size and student population
  • Residential life and housing options
  • Extracurricular activities, clubs, and organizations
  • Overall campus culture and values

Whenever possible, visiting campuses can provide valuable insight. For students who have not yet spent time living on a college campus, summer experiences offer a preview of campus life and independence. Experiencing college routines firsthand can help students better understand what type of environment feels right for them.

Step 3: Evaluate Financial Considerations Early

Cost is a critical part of the college decision process and should be considered early and honestly. Look beyond the published tuition price and research:

  • Financial aid packages and scholarships
  • Merit-based versus need-based aid
  • Cost of housing, meals, and transportation
  • Opportunities for work-study or part-time employment

Families should also consider long-term financial impact, including student loan expectations and return on investment. Understanding financial options upfront helps prevent surprises later and allows students to compare schools realistically.

Step 4: Think About Cultural and Personal Fit

A college should feel like a place where you can grow both academically and personally. Cultural fit includes factors such as:

  • Diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Support services and advising
  • Student wellness and mental health resources
  • Opportunities for leadership and community engagement

Students often underestimate how important it is to feel comfortable and supported. Reflection and self-awareness can make it easier to recognize which colleges feel like a good match. College visits can also be a valuable tool for understanding how well a university fits your needs.

Step 5: Use Summer Experiences to Clarify Your Choice

Summer experiences can be powerful tools in the college decision process. Programs like the allow students to explore academic subjects, experience campus life, and connect with peers who share similar interests. These experiences often provide clarity about both academic direction and personal preferences.

Students who participate in structured summer programs frequently report feeling more confident entering their senior year of high school. They are better prepared to articulate their interests, evaluate college options, and envision themselves in a collegiate setting. The independence and social skills gained from these experiences can be crucial in building the confidence and insight needed to choose a college. For many families, summer programs serve as a bridge between high school and college, offering insight that no brochure or ranking can provide.

Making the Decision with Confidence

Choosing a college is about finding a place that fits your needs and goals, not about finding perfection. By evaluating academic offerings, location, finances, and cultural fit, students can approach the decision thoughtfully and confidently.

The college journey does not begin on move-in day. It begins with curiosity, self-reflection, and a willingness to explore. With the right tools and support, students can make choices that set them up not just for college success, but for long-term growth beyond it.
